Applies to Aspire Board. Version: 11 October 2026.
1. Six-month limited warranty
Aspire Board includes a six-month limited warranty from delivery covering defects in materials and workmanship under normal, documented use. Keep your proof of purchase. Contact NileDynamics with your order number, fault description and relevant photographs to request assessment for repair or replacement, subject to applicable statutory remedies.
2. Reverse polarity and misuse
Aspire Board has no reverse-polarity protection. Reversing the power-supply connections can permanently destroy the board. Check VCC (+) and GND (-) before applying power.
Damage caused by reverse polarity or misuse automatically voids the affected board’s limited warranty, to the extent permitted by law. Misuse includes incorrect wiring, short circuits, excessive voltage or current, inadequate cooling, driving reserved sensing pins, and modifications or repairs that cause damage. Normal programming and documented expansion use are permitted.
3. Electrical limits and cooling
Follow the recommended operating conditions: 24 V DC motor supply; 5 A continuous current per phase without a heatsink or 14 A with suitable cooling; and 8 kHz PWM.
Higher-current operation requires appropriate heatsinking and airflow. Verify temperatures in the intended enclosure. Increasing PWM frequency toward 20 kHz increases heat and requires reduced current.
Absolute maximum ratings are stress limits, not safe operating targets: 30 V motor supply; 8 A per phase without heatsinking or 20 A with sufficient thermal management; 20 kHz PWM; 6.5 V on the 5 V rail; 3.6 V on the 3.3 V rail; and the datasheet’s listed 120°C temperature limit. Exceeding these limits can cause permanent damage. Prolonged exposure can reduce reliability. The temperature limit is neither a recommended operating temperature nor a safe touch temperature.
4. Wiring and shared connections
Disconnect power before changing wiring. Connect the supply at J1 and motors at J2/J6. Check each connector’s pin order; J8 and J9 have different power/ground ordering.
The 3.3 V and 5 V header rails are regulator outputs. Do not apply external power to them without confirmation from NileDynamics.
A5/PA5 is reserved for Motor B current sensing; do not drive it with another signal. A3/PA3 and A4/PA4 serve onboard sensing. P12/PC13 has a 3 mA maximum drive specification. TIM4 is reserved for motor PWM, ADC1 is shared with sensing, and peripheral functions share pins.
Encoder inputs are single-channel and cannot independently determine actual rotation direction. Confirm unclear pin assignments with NileDynamics before powering the board; the datasheet flags unresolved availability labels.
5. Handling and intended use
Protect the board from liquids, conductive debris, electrostatic discharge and physical damage. Secure connected mechanisms and keep clear of moving parts. Disconnect power if abnormal heat, smoke or unexpected behaviour occurs.
Aspire Board is a development platform and is not authorized as a critical component in life-support devices or systems.
6. Consumer rights
These terms do not restrict mandatory consumer rights, statutory defect remedies, or liabilities that cannot lawfully be excluded. Accepting these terms does not waive those rights.
